The second day on the ship was the cruise through Glacier Bay National Park. While making our way through the enormous park to the far end to see the Grand Pacific Glacier and the Margerie Glacier, we spotted some Dall sheep and a grizzly bear walking along the shore.

ship waiting to see the next large piece of glacier fall, to hear the thunderous roar and see the large splash and resulting wave. These photos do not do justice to the sheer size of the tons of falling ice. Birds swoop in after the calving to have easy pickings of fish who have been knocked unconscious from the falling ice.

After spending some time at the Margerie Glacier, we started back and attempted to go into the Johns Hopkins Inlet which has too much ice to navigate

The Margerie Glacier was a prime area to see calving. It was awe-inspiring, standing toward the front end of the

much of the year. Fortunately, we were able to round the corner to see what is said to be one of the most picturesque glaciers in Alaska.
